August ’17 Sephora Play Unboxing and Review

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

It’s that time to unbox yet another Sephora Play box (or, in other words, my very favorite monthly subscription box, like, EVER)!

This month, the theme was: The Innovators!

I already loved this theme because the packaging and information inside was very ‘science-y’ and for those of you who still do not know, I am a science major (:

It is also perfect for those of us that are unfortunately getting ready to go back to school. Ugh, long gone are the days that I used to be excited for the back to school season. But anyways, this isn’t about that.. So let’s jump right into the products!

First up was the beautyblender micro.mini!

I was thrilled with this one. I’m sure we all know about beauty blenders and how amazing they are, so of course getting a new one is like a dream come true! Although this is not a full size one, I was super happy to receive the mini because I don’t have one and I’m sure this is going to be great for the under eyes and nose area.

Obviously I cannot officially review this product but it has already made the entire box worth it for me! I know it’ll distribute the perfect amount of product and work well. I also know that it will be a super soft and bouncy sponge that I can trust!

And next up is Clinique HIM Dual-Ended High Impact Mascara & Primer Duo!

So this is basically a two-in-one product! One side is a lash primer, while the other is a mascara. The primer is meant to moisturize the lashes, while the mascara makes them longer. Together, your eye look is meant to last longer and make your lashes look more ‘lustrous’ (I got that word right out of the pamphlet).

I know that every month it seems that I am getting a mascara; however, I really appreciate this one as it seems like a full sized product AND it isn’t just another mascara, they’re giving us a primer too!

Again, I can’t really give this product a five star review as I’ve never used it before, but it seems to be a genuinely good mascara and I’m super excited to see what it has to offer as I’ve never really tried any Clinique make up before (:

Third thing on the menu is Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick!

So this is pretty basic as well, it is exactly what it says it is.. a foundation stick. That being said, I’m still pretty excited about it! Mine came in the color ‘Shell’, which is the perfect color for me and I am so thankful for that! I’ve only swatched it on the back of my hand so far, but I would say I’m already impressed. It glided on super smooth and was also super pigmented right off the bat. The only downside to this product is that because it is so creamy, I think you could easily use a lot of product very fast, and honestly? The size they send is not super huge.

The really cool thing about this though is that it seems to be another two-in-one kind of deal. The pamphlet advertises that it could double as a concealer, and trust me, your girl is going to need all the concealer she can get once school starts and those under eye circle resurface. I’m excited to put it to the test and see just how weightless the formula truly is, so this was just another hit for me this month!

Hourglass

Next up is Erborian Glow Creme Illuminating Face Cream!

I’m not sure but I believe I received a product from this brand quite a while ago, and it very quickly becoming a favorite, so I was instantly intrigued by this product. It is cream that claims to smooth and moisturize the skin, and then leave it with a holographic shimmer. So no, I have not yet put this on my face but I DID swatch it on the back of my hand.. one word, ‘LOVE’!

The shimmer that it claims to have is real and it is so beautiful. It is a white cream that smooths out and absorbs really fast but then leave behind a purple, iridescent, duo-chrome-esque finish and I’m telling you guys, it’s almost too good to be true. That being said, I’m not sure how long that finish is meant to last and if it would be seen underneath a foundation but on no make-up days, I feel like this could be absolute perfection. OR maybe it’ll make your face look like a disco ball but also, I’m not really opposed to that either, ha! So to sum this one up? 10/10 WOULD recommend (:

And now the final product in the box is the Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist!

Whew, that is a VERY long name. So I’m going to be honest, at first I did not read the pamphlet and was not very excited about this. I mean I’m 20 years old, I don’t necessarily thing I needed a bottle of serum to help with anti-aging (especially when I have a skincare routine pretty much down), BUT this is actually a hair care product (which I would have known if I would have just read the bottle, duh).

It is a lightweight hairstyling mist that is supposed to add volume and texture to your hair. It is also supposed to keep the hair soft throughout the day and does all of this with the help of ingredients like omega-3s and algae.

So, did I really need this product? No. But I’ll still give it a try because, why the heck not?

And FINALLY the free perfume sample of the month is Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue!

This is a classic for me, so I was pretty pleased with it. I’m a little annoyed it doesn’t come in a spray form, because that is just 10x easier to use; however, I know that I like this scent and that it’s a good one. It is in the ‘Fresh’ fragrance family and includes notes such as cedar, apple, jasmine, amber, and musk.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of this one, but if you haven’t I would totally recommend taking a smell and trying it out. Like I said, it’s a total classic and maybe it won’t become your next favorite perfume but it also won’t let you down (:

Dolce & Gabbana

So all in all? This was another successful box! After sitting down and typing it all out, I think I fell even more in love with it because I became re-excited about some of the products and learned more about what they have to offer. I’m super impressed with the beauty blender included as well as some of the two-in-one type products! Plus, the theme was super cute and for once, I’ll be keeping the little bag instead of giving it away (because I already have wayyy too many as it is)!

I hope you all enjoyed this look at my August Sephora Play box and I’ll see you all next month with another one, but..

Until next time,

xx.Britani Skye
