On this week’s ‘blogisode’ (I know, I rolled my eyes too) I’m bringing to you one of my all time favorite trends for the fall to winter season.. Oversized/Relaxed Fit Blazers! Now for those of you that have a sense of what my style is all about, you’ll already know why this is perfect. Ever since I’ve been in high school, I put little to no effort into my outfit, but always get a lot of style credit because for some reason pairing skinny jeans, a basic/graphic tee, and a sweet jacket just works.
Although we’ve seen bomber jackets, jean jackets, and tracksuits come and go over these past few years, this season the jacket of choice is 10/10 going to be blazers! And no, I’m not saying a boring old black, mega fitted blazer that might make you look like you’re ready to take on the world, I’m talking bright colored, patterned, and LOOSE fitting! With this jacket you are going to make the biggest statement and people are going to be doing double takes like ‘omg I didn’t even know a blazer could be so cool’!
If I were to style this piece, I’d definitely go with either black skinnies or a high waisted boyfriend jean. Then you can either dress it up with a solid colored top and some chic flats/heels or dress it down with a graphic tee and some Vans. You’ll probably be seeing me go for the latter!
So because there are lots of blazers to pick from on the market, the world is really your oyster when it comes to this department! You can seriously go into your favorite store (or surf the web if you’re like me) and find something just right for you in all price ranges, colors, and prints.. it’s like my fashion dream come true! If for some reason you’re on the struggle bus and just can’t find what you’re looking for or you need some inspo, I collected some of my faves and listed them below for all of you guys!
P.S. — Another little tip is that if you find a blazer you absolutely adore but it doesn’t come with that oversized/boyfriend-like fit, just order it a few sizes up! That’s what I’ve been doing and they come fitting literally perfect that way!
Okay so is the polka dotted blazer from Topshop not just to die for? I think it’s absolutely perfect because you’re adding a lot of fun into your wardrobe, but also still picking a really versatile piece. The monochrome color will look great with both colors and black & white!
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t pull some inspiration from one of my favorite humans on the planet with this one.. yes, Harry Styles. So maybe if you’re aren’t obsessed like I am, you might not be thinking of all the Gucci suits he wore during his tour but as soon as I saw this it screamed please buy me and live out all of your pink plaid suit fantasies. And so that’s exactly what I did. I ordered a size up in this to get that relaxed fit and it’s just right! This one has shoulder pads as well, so if that’s something you’re just totally not into, you might want to take that into consideration!
**Bonus Jonas: It also has a matching pair of pants as well if you’re wanting to go full out and live like H for a few hours.. 10/10 WOULD recommend!
Both blazers from Nordstrom are classic in their own way! I love that the navy is a more muted color with a classic design and that the orange one is a bright take on the over worn dulled pumpkin colors of fall! These are perfect for the back to school season and will make you look super collegiate all day long!
And last but not least is an all time favorite! This is a SUPER classic blazer from Zara. The colors aren’t in your face and it features that stereotypical ‘grandpa’ plaid. This is exactly what I would pair with a graphic tee, sneakers, and oversized blue denim. Styled with a messy bun or beach-y waves, you’ve got a look and a half going for sure. I just feel like it’s the most perfect ‘cool girl’ outfit!
Are you guys loving blazers for this season or are they too old school preppy for you? I’m sure you can all guess my opinion! What are some other trends you are looking forward to? And what are some trends you’re looking forward to leaving behind? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
