50 Shades of ‘Can I Really Achieve Ana’s Berry Lip’?

50 Shades of ‘Can I Really Achieve Ana’s Berry Lip’?

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Happy Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you soul sisters out there. Yes, after this we can FINALLY pretend I’m not the biggest Valentine’s fan and never talk about this stinking holiday again (until next year, of course).

This week I wanted to give a review with a twist.. and so I’m gonna give y’all the 411 on what it’s REALLY like to sport the lippies that Anastasia Steele does in Fifty Shades (Darker)!

Yes, not only am I a mush for Valentine’s, but I’m also totally obsessed with Fifty Shades. Think what you want, but there’s no denying they come out with a bomb soundtrack every year AND there’s ALWAYS some appeal to a love story (even if it’s a little twisted).

So last year, Cosmo released some of the shades Ana wore in the movie, and of course, being the dedicated fan that I am (as well as lipstick fanatic) had to go out and get them. I mean, who doesn’t want to have the most perfect berry lip? Because that is something I’ve been trying to achieve since like high school..

So without further ado, let’s get into it! And stay tuned until the end if you want my opinion on the movie’s album too (spoiler alert** JAMIE DORNAN SINGS A BONUS TRACK, THIS IS NOT A DRILL)!

1. MAC Lip Pencil in ‘Burgundy’ and Glossier Generation G in ‘Jam’

Allegedly, this is the lip combo for when Ana and Christian grace the world with their presence at the Masquerade Charity Ball.

Honestly, I love this combo. I know that in the picture it is most definitely a dark berry (borderline burgundy?), but after a few dabs with a tissue and a little wear on the lip, it’s a pretty spot on color to the one in the movie.. which I mean is to be expected, right? AND to be fair, I maybe went a little ham with the lip pencil.. I think the star here is definitely supposed to be the Glossier lip tint!

Also, if the glossy look isn’t your thing, fear not! It dries down after a little bit to a matte finish and will stay on for quite a while (something that is important to me)! BUT if the glossy look is for you, then just keep reapplying the Glossier lippie to keep you looking fine, fresh, and fierce (:

I also appreciate that although these are two products meant to work together, they can also really do wonders for you separately. Although the Mac lip pencil is a little tough (seriously, it’s so hard and dry to work with at first), it goes really well with a lot of my lipsticks I currently have! As for the Glossier lip tint, this is just an all ’round staple. If at first the application is a bit patchy, you just need to smooth it quickly with a swipe or two of your finger and seriously, this is the most perfect berry. AND because it isn’t a full on lipstick, it’s so wearable!

So on a scale of ‘How much does this make me feel like Anastasia?’: I would say 9/10!

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in ‘Heathers’

Okay so like is this not the most iconic lip of the entire movie? Like she’s in this fabulous red dress that she seriously looks SO. GOOD. in and is forreal glowing and then to top it off is she stuns the world with this fabulous red lip, like I die.

Okay but enough gushing (sort-of).

This is actually the lippie I felt stayed most true to the film. I know the picture I chose kind of makes it look like a more bright red but it’s actually pretty dark IRL. And it’s blue-toned which is always the very best kind of red to have.

Honestly, I love this color. The down side is that it doesn’t last all day and can kind of get messy/smudgy. I’m honestly not sure how they didn’t use a lip liner, but if you choose to splurge on this product, I would HIGHLY recommend. Lots of my Kylie Cosmetics lip liners work really well with this red and save my really cruddy application.

The only other downside is that you really want to use a lip scrub before putting this bad boy on. I didn’t and when I tried to even it out, it ended up just looking cake-y and crusty.. a combo NO girl wants after seeing Ana look like an actual Valentine’s Day goddess.

Trust me y’all, this one is worth it. You’ll get lots of compliments and deep down you can thank a silly book that got turned into a silly movie and really no one even has to know your secret! (:

Ana scale?? 9.5/10

Anastasia Beverly Hills

3. Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in ‘Arabian Knights’

So this is how they achieved Ana’s perfect berry lip throughout literally most of the movie. The makeup artist on set was able to achieve a faded stain by blotting this on the lips as well as a more bold lip by layering it.

When I first tried this, I had a total ‘What the Fudge’ moment. I was like, this has to be some kind of joke because spoiler.. I was NOT looking flawless like my home girl Anastasia. It wasn’t berry to say the least. It was tinted a lot more red than purple than I originally thought it would and was immediately disappointed. I also remember it being glossy, which I also hated considering I’m a matte queen.

I honestly don’t even think I let it on for more than like 10 minutes I hated it all so much.

But then (a little while later.. I’m talking WEEKS) I went back to it and had a totally different perspective. Depending on how you work with it, you can achieve the look you want. It also depends on how long it’s been on your lips. So, in other words, the longer it wears, the more natural and Anastasia-like it looks.

And because it’s a lip conditioner, it is definitely not drying at all, which at this time of the year is wonderful.. crusty lips be gone, please and thank you!

So what once was my worst nightmare actually has become one of my staples. Even though there is definitely color to it, it’s so natural that you can wear it pretty much 24/7. I love the stain finish and am very happy to have added this to my collection (:

Do I feel like Ana yet? Actually, yes (if I pretend I have blue eyes and bangs): 8/10

Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner

**From left to right: Glossier Generation G in Jam, MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil in Burgundy, Anastasia Beverly Hills in Heathers, and Ilia Tinted Lip Conditioner in Arabian Knights**

And so that concludes the lipstick obsessed portion of this week’s blog post (: Run, don’t walk, to get these shades and flash your biggest berry-lipped smile with pride. Miss Anastasia has come to our rescue, phew!

And speaking of rescue, what else has come just in time? THE SOUNDTRACK.

Okay, I’m going to try to keep this short because, as per usual, I have a lot of thoughts.

I’ve been waiting so long for this.. seriously, is it just me or has music been sucking lately? And this both satisfied and disappointed at the same time.

The first time I listened to it, I just wasn’t impressed. Yeah there are a few really good songs (list coming shortly), but there wasn’t a ‘moodiness’ to this album like the previous two had that I was missing. AND the songs that I do like, are ones that I don’t really want to listen to after like the 5th time through.

That being said, I gave the album another go and it’s starting to grow on me more.. honestly, after I see the movie I’ll probably be totally sold on it, but these were just my initial reactions that I wanted to share! So if you’re in the market for something new, I would definitely recommend giving the soundtrack a listen. You might find something you really like and you might not, but nevertheless it’s still worth it (:

Here are my top 5 songs:
1. For You – Liam Payne and Rita Ora (gotta support the 1D boys always)
2. Never Tear Us Apart – Bishop Briggs (is anyone getting OG Fifty Shades from the intro? Because I am.)
3. Maybe I’m Amazed – Jamie Dornan (seriously, is there anything he can’t do? You have to listen and you’ll be a believer for life)
4. The Wolf – The Spencer Lee Band (this is one that’s grown on me.. sort of how the Nicki Minaj and Nick Jonas song did on the last album)
5. Love Me Like You Do – Ellie Goulding (if this doesn’t play at the end and through the credits, I’m going on strike, let’s wrap this thing up right!)

Stream the album from Spotify here!

Have any of you seen the new 50 Shades? What are your thoughts and opinions on the series? And what do you think of the lippies? Let me know in the comments below!

I hope you all have the very best day and..

Until next time,

Jeffree Star Cosmetics: Holiday Glitter Collection

Jeffree Star Cosmetics: Holiday Glitter Collection

Happy Saturday Everyone!

Yes, it has been way to long since I last typed that to y’all, but I’m super excited to have been able to finish my 5th semester of college and be back planning and creating content for my blog again!

I’m not super proud that I needed to take some time off, but at the end of the day it was necessary and if I was worried about this, there is no way I could have survived in terms of all of the stuff that was going on at school.

Brief summary? It all started when my laptop broke in November (it was down and out for literally an entire week.. and in college terms? That’s a lifetime) and put me majorly behind on assignments. And because I really don’t think getting into the rest of the tragedy that was the month of November is relevant, that’s pretty much all you need to know! So on with the show, am I right? (:

And let’s get down to the REAL business.. Jeffree’s Holiday Collection!

I seriously have SO many thoughts. So let’s start with the packaging! It was absolutely flawless from the holo cartons that the products are kept in down to the glitter containers that contain the actual product itself. I die.

So, the first thing you might notice (or at least you will if you’re like me) is the holographic boxes. Holographic is seriously my favorite color. This is going to sound absolutely crazy but I’m convinced that I’m part alien and so naturally I’m drawn to literally ANYTHING holo. Even more, this is classic, silver/rainbow holo. Or in other words, the color of the inside of my beating heart. I’m not even ashamed to say that I’ve saved the boxes to everything I ordered.. it’s all just SO freaking beautiful (:

The next thing you might notice is that every container is made with pink glitter. Ugh, how does it get any better? The glitter is so beautiful and is so smooth (seriously, not gritty at ALL) and really just adds a whole other dimension to this collection.

I think you can really tell how much thought was put into the collection just based on the packaging alone. It was such a step up from anything that I had seen before from Jeffree and had me hooked immediately.

So let’s get into the actual products themselves. Although I’m only going to swatch and review what I bought myself, he did release 2 highlighting pro palettes, 3 lip scrubs, 4 lip ammos, and 8 liquid lipsticks. All of which are unique and wonderful in their own way! But let’s break this section up into parts so it can be a little more focused (because honestly right now I just want to gush about how much I’m in love with every. thing.)

Velour Lip Scrubs

He brought out 3 new lip scrubs for the holidays: Marshmallow, Lemon Icebox Cookies, and Candy Cane.

Originally, I wasn’t able to get my hands on the scrub that I wanted.. Marshmallow (insert heart eyes here, marshmallow is my favorite), but my ever so wonderful boyfriend was able to find it from a second party seller and I’m seriously SO. HAPPY.

For those of you that might not know, I never really used lip scrubs until this summer when I bought all three of the lip scrubs Jeffree released for the Chrome Collection. Ever since, my life has been changed.

The scrubs are super gentle, moisturizing, and taste DELICIOUS. So when I saw he was releasing more, I knew I had to try to snag one.

At first, I was unsure of the marshmallow when I first tried it because it seemed perfume-y (probably because I didn’t use it as a lip scrub.. I just took a finger full and ate it..), but it has quickly become my favorite. When used for its actual purpose, it is super yummy and is consistent with all of the other lip scrubs I’ve tried before. It honestly also has saved my chapped lips and thank the good Lord because I had been STRUGGLIN’ for like two weeks straight, ugh.

So moral of the story? WOULD recommend the lip scrubs and especially the marshmallow one!

Also, P.S. I’m sorry I don’t have pictures of this but like I said, my boyfriend got it for me after I had already taken pictures for this post!

Velour Liquid Lipsticks

Jeffree released another 8 gorgeous shades in this collection. I wasn’t sure which ones I really wanted or would find practical but I KNEW I needed Santa Baby as soon as I saw it.

Dark, red, matte shades are my absolute favorites to wear and this does not disappoint! It’s honestly even a little magenta/pink-y, which I find makes it very unique. Really, it’s just so beautiful. And I wore it during my end of the semester dance showcase and got loads of compliments on it, so there’s that as well!

Seriously, nothing makes a girl feel better than when people notice the little things like her lipstick shade.. it’s the best (:

Yes, this shade is a little more difficult to work with in comparison to other shades Jeffree has released in the past; however, with careful application and MAYBE a second coat, this shade is 100% worth it!

There really isn’t a bad shade in the collection. I would say that of all of the shades released, First Class seems the most difficult to wear in daily life but, after watching 20 videos of different YouTubers swatching the rest of the collection I’ll probably be placing another order tonight (A.K.A. Medusa, Poinsettia, Christmas Cookies, and Human Nature here I come)!

Lip Ammo

I had never bought one of these before but again, when I saw Champagne Tears, I knew I had to have it. Do you see a theme here? Glitter gets me every time.

This is a sheer silver glitter that can either be worn on its own or as a lipstick topper.

I will say that pictures definitely do not do this color justice and that although the formula is definitely more on the dry side, I am so happy to have gotten my hands on it!

Highlighting Pro Palettes

And last, but not least, is the Platinum Ice Pro Palette. I opted out of the 24 Karat palette because I’m a pale girl and I just thought that all of that gold really wouldn’t suit me. Plus I really liked that the Platinum Ice palette contained both wearable shades (Ice Cold) and more out there shades (Alien Ice).

So let’s quick go through all of the colors individually.

On the top row from left to right, there is Ice Cold which is a true white highlighter, then Glacier, a silver, and Lavender Snow, a purple/silver hybrid.

On the bottom row from left to right again, there is Alien Ice (yes, this is me in a highlighter) which is a white, icy, lime green, Pink Chill which is a pinky duo chrome, and finally Canary Bling, which is a white, silver, yellow.

Both Ice Cold and Lavender Snow are shades that Jeffree sells individually but the rest are all new and they are all so. freaking. beautiful.

The formula is beyond creamy and so easy to work with. There is little fall out and the color pay-off is blinding which is what I love so much about Jeffree’s skin frosts.

Jeffree mentioned the formula of Pink Chill being more of a topper/natural finish, but I think that it is just as wonderful as all of the other shades. It is buildable and the color is absolutely stunning when on the skin. I love the pink hue it casts and having this shade fills the void that I have from never getting his skin frost Neffree.

Of course my favorite shade is Alien Ice. I’ve never seen anything like it and for those of you who might think it is intimidating, I’m here to let you know that it is actually very wearable.

Needless to say, I’m totally obsessed with this palette.

So final thoughts?

Jeffree’s brand is top-notch for me. It is so affordable and the products you are receiving are very high quality. The formula of his liquid lipsticks and skin frosts are unparalleled and I love that he seems to have so much fun with his line from creating crazy colors down to the cartons itself.

He really went above and beyond with this collection for me and I’ve been so excited about it ever since the reveal (:

Like I said earlier, I will definitely be placing another order soon to snag some more lipsticks and if you are still looking for a Christmas present for your make-up loving friend, this is a great idea!

What do you guys think? Have you played with any of the products from the Holiday Collection? And if so, what is your favorite(s)?

Until next time,

Sephora Play Unboxing and Review: November ’17

Sephora Play Unboxing and Review: November ’17

Happy Monday Everyone!

This week on Manhattan Skye I wanted to return to one of my monthly rituals, a good ole Sephora Play Unboxing!

This month’s theme was ‘Survival of the Chillest’ and man was I in need of that title considering the month’s workload, phew.

I really liked this month’s bag and the little insert that they include with all of the products’ info. I thought the bag’s quote (‘It’s Me O’Clock’) was super cute for the theme and I really liked that the insert was made to be colored. Especially since that is mega trendy when you think about ways for adults to destress anymore! Both were super clever and super cute. So that was an A+ from me (:

Inside the box included deluxe samples all focused on the ‘treat yo’ self’ mantra, just in time for the holidays. Plus, self care is important. And I definitely have to remind myself of that daily.

But I digress, so let’s just jump right on into this month’s goodies!

1. Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

This is a pretty standard black mascara. It claims to create long, beautiful lashes with it’s unique curvy brush while also building volume.

I loved that I received this because of the brand, I mean, Marc Jacobs anything is a yes from me; however, a new mascara is becoming pretty common in these months and I’m low-key bored.

This does what it claims but is by no means a wow-factor, just a nice addition.

Marc Jacobs Beauty

2. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores

Yes. That’s apparently the product’s official name. In my opinion? It’s very long.

Either way, I was happy to see this in the box. I literally say this every month but I am a total skincare freak so new masks are a delight in my daily routine.

The charcoal in this one is meant to be gentle, but still show mega results by drawing out the impurities from your pores. They also claim this will make your skin brighter and more smooth feeling, all things that I’m totally into.

It’s made with white China clay and (obviously, it’s in the title) activated charcoal. These together are the magnets that get out all the gunk, yuck, but also satisfying. I like knowing some of the ingredients in my skincare, it makes me feel better knowing that each thing has a purpose. Maybe that’s weird..

This scores a 10/10 for me (:

3. IGK Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm

I was super happy to see this as well. I have damaged hair from an incident this summer so I am also beyond thrilled to try hair products that should help out my very dehydrated locks.

This is a nourishing leave-in conditioner that is said to boost the hair’s hydration and leave it shiny AND frizz-free. Uhm, yes please!

It’s made with coconut oil and is also great for detangling hair as well (another thing I am in desperate need of straight out of the shower), which means it also smells totally delicious. It’s also a very lightweight formula so it doesn’t make your hair feel greasy or weighed down. All of which are good things, so this is another 10/10!

4. Sephora Collection Rouge Cream Lipstick in The Red

This is another mascara moment for me.. We’ve totally received multiple red lipsticks over the past year and I’m just kind of over it.

That aside, it is super creamy and definitely very pigmented. If you don’t already have a red lipstick in your collection, this would be wonderful. But also, the real question is: Who doesn’t already have a red lipstick??

It isn’t a true blue-based red color, so at least it has that going for it; however, orange-reds don’t tend to look the best on me and so this will definitely be going to either my mom or a friend!

For those of you that might be curious, it is a satin finish so it is super comfortable on the lips and despite the color, would probably be a great Christmas gift idea for the upcoming month!

Sephora Collection

5. Caudalie Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Essence

Okay so go back a few products ago and reread ‘I am a total skincare freak’. That’s about all the information you need to know to predict that I was pretty pumped about finding this in my box.

This is a toner (love, love, love already) and it helps to take away impurities while smoothing and brightening the skin.

It is made with grape water and glycolic acid which are responsible for gently evening your skin tone and revealing a brighter complexion. Can I repeat, yes please!

10/10 WOULD recommend (:

6. Burberry My Burberry Blush

This month’s freebie perfume was another miss for me. I personally am not the biggest fan of floral smells. I find them overwhelming and honestly just not that pleasant.

Hence, if you’re a floral lover, this is probably up your alley. It’s a combination of fruity and floral to be more exact and have notes of pomegranate, geranium, rose petal, and jasmine.

So if those sound good, it would probably suit you very well (:

This month’s box from me gets about a 6/10. There were some pretty great products but also some misses for me. Plus, this box really had a tough time following up October’s box (A.K.A. the best box, EVER), so it was difficult not to draw comparisons and be a little disappointed.

I would still say though that this is 100% the best subscription box. I love receiving it every single month and the surprise of it all is so worth it for just $10.

Do you guys think other subscriptions are better? Or are you all loyal Sephora lovers like myself?

I hope you are all having a fabulous week and..

Until next time..

Sephora’s Annual VIB Sale: 10 Things in My Cart

Sephora’s Annual VIB Sale: 10 Things in My Cart

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Amidst the chaos of this school week, I threw together a quick blog post all about Sephora’s Annual Sale (because who doesn’t love great quality products at a once a year discount?)!

Included is a wish list of 10 items I would have in my cart (if in a perfect world I was a millionaire), and a quick little reason why I think it’s awesome (: Some of which might be because it is a life staple in my routine and others might just be because it’s winter and to me, that means ’tis the season of glitter and sparkle and NO ONE can say a dang thing about it!

So let’s jump right on in and get to it!

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.48.19 PM

1. Fenty Beauty

Okay, so I know that technically I totally have three things here, but like I’m trying to in my mind, condense them as one because it’s all just so dang good.

I really don’t wear makeup on the daily, so I haven’t had the excuse to go out and pick all of these goodies up yet, but of course I’ve seen all the YouTube reviews and I’m DYING to try these three products from the line.

First is the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. It is full coverage, comes in a range of colors (totally awesome), and from what I hear has some type of technology that helps it dry down as though it was already set with a powder. And all of that sounds amazing to me!

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.12.00 PM

Pro Filt’r Foundation

Next up is the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife! This is literally gold glitter. Do I even need to say anything else?

No, it might not be the best for pale gal’s like me, but I quite frankly don’t care because I think it’s just THAT good!

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.12.25 PM

Trophy Wife

And finally, I’m dying to get my hands on the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer!

This is a lip gloss that is apparently supposed to suit any skin tone, and I believe it does this by somehow looking different on pretty much everyone.

I’m not much of a lip gloss girl but I’ve seen this on so many beauty gurus and alllll over Instagram and I haven’t seen it look bad yet. Plus it just seems like the perfect way to add some subtle glam to every look! (:

2. Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly

This is a cult favorite. I tried it years ago and it’s been my favorite concealer ever since. It is super thick and great at brightening areas on the face. I find it doesn’t really crease and just wears so well all day long! So I’ll be stocking up on this before my current stash is gone! (:

3. Peter Thomas Roth Mask-A-Holic 6-Piece Set

I’m so excited about this one! You all know I love skincare and this is the perfect gift for anyone who feels the same! It includes tinier sizes or a variety of masks and honestly, although I’ve never actually owned this product, I can tell it would last forever! So you’re really getting such a great value AND amazing products!

It includes: Cucumber Gel Mask, 24K Gold Mask Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Mask, Blue Marine Algae Intense Hydrating Mask, Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, and Irish Moor Mud Purifying Black Mask

4. Bobbi Brown Bronzer in Golden Light

Okay, I know all you Sephora lovers seem to be Hoola obsessed, but this is another cult favorite for me. It’s the best bronzer, truly. It isn’t too orange, and it’s so versatile. I use it (obviously) to warm up my complexion, but also as an eyeshadow on days where I just want a little some extra, and it seriously looks soooo good.

I’ve had one of these for seriously years, and although I use it plenty, I’ve just FINALLY hit pan so I’m definitely in need of this asap (: WOULD definitely recommend!

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.20.46 PM

5. Kat Von D Alchemist Holographic Palette

Holographic is my favorite color so snagging this palette is a total dream. It can be used to transform the eyes, face, and lips and totally giving me all of the space vibes! Plus I really think this palette would work so well for all of my darker skinned girls out there because seeing it swatched is out of this world type of good (: And why not be a little extra and have some fun for the holidays, right?

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.26.51 PM

Alchemist Palette

6. Belif Creamy Cleansing Foam Moist

Yes, another staple. I’ve been using this for the past few years and it’s never made my skin happier. I have lots of skin problems (mostly because I’m not always the most consistent when it comes to washing my face at college, gross, I know.) and this really helps. It’s gentle and made with good ingredients and won’t break the bank when it comes to buying it.

It also always lasts me quite a while, which is just another bonus jonas (:

7. Sephora Winter Wonderland Advent Calendar

This is just a splurge item. I love advent calendars and this is super fun because instead of chocolate you get a little itty bitty beauty item. So really, how can you go wrong? Plus, at a discount, why the heck not get something that’ll add a little more sparkle to your Christmas countdown.

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.22.16 PM

Winter Wonderland Advent Calendar

8. Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray

This is another good one, I have damaged hair and this first of all, smells wonderful, but second of all (and most importantly) actually makes a difference. It leaves my hair softer and with 10x less tangles. This is just one of the many products I’ve received in a Sephora Play box and have moved on to purchase full size. It’s a goodie, trust me! (:

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.16.38 PM

Leave-in Conditioner

9. BeautyBlender Blenders For All Seasons

Okay, who doesn’t love a BeautyBlender? And it’s like double the discount. This is already in a bundle so you’re getting them for less as is, PLUS the 20% off. Ugh, it’s like a dream come true. I know I can never have enough of these guys around, and this will 100% be on the list! Oh, and the colors are to die for too. I know the pink is classic but purple is my favorite color (minus holographic) so to add these to the collection would be great too!

These would also be the best gift for literally anyone! So it might be a good idea to try and get some of that Christmas shopping out of the way early on! (:

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.20.10 PM

Blenders For All Seasons

10. Sephora Puff & Shine Shimmery Body Powder

Last, but of course not least, is loose glitter that you can douse all over your body. It seems festive and perfect for the holiday season and for $13, I’m down. This could honestly be a total fail but, at the end of the day, I could see this being the first thing added to my cart!

Screen Shot 2017-11-08 at 4.28.52 PM

Puff & Shine Shimmer

And so that concludes all of my wishlist items for this years sale! It’s something you definitely have to seize the day on as it really is so so so rare for anything to ever be on sale in Sephora. Of course, that’s not great for my wallet but who’s really keeping track, right?

What’s on your wishlist? Have you shopped the sale yet? What do you think of all of my items and do you have any recommendations?

I hope you are all having a great week and enjoyed this short little post!

Until next time,

October ’17 Lush Haul

October ’17 Lush Haul

Happy Monday Everyone!

I just wanted to pop in today and do a (hopefully) quick haul of some of things that I’ve bought at Lush recently!

If you are unfamiliar with what Lush is, it’s basically a Bath and Body Works for people of the au’natural kind. They make all of their products with fresh ingredients and everything that they create is so unique, that it draws a lot of people to it (especially me) (:

If you’ve never been to a Lush before or feel kind of intimidated by everything they have to offer, I would encourage you just go in and talk to the people working. They are ALWAYS so kind and very informative about all of the products there. They normally will do demos in the store and even give out free samples to basically anything you want, so you really can’t lose when it comes to this store!

But anyways, enough about my love for Lush, let’s just jump right on into the haul! (:

1. Daddy-O

This is a purple shampoo with a backstory. I was originally intending to dye my hair grey and so I went to Lush in search of a more natural product that would both keep the color looking fresh while using the minimal amount of harsh ingredients. Needless to say, my hair is NOT grey, but I’m still using this shampoo because, why not?

It has a floral and slightly citrus-y scent and is literally the most wonderful purple color I’ve ever seen. I might also be biased because purple IS my favorite color, but anyways.

I would say that the shampoo does its job well. You can use it daily and it definitely does make your hair and scalp feel clean. I would say though that it isn’t as sudsy as ‘normal’ shampoos and it does make my hair feel a little weighed down at the roots but otherwise, I have no complaints.

2. Metamorphosis

Alright, now these are always my weakness when I go into a Lush.. the bath bombs. This one in particular is one that I have never tried and is relatively new so I guess in my mind I just had to pick it up.

It is a grey indented ball that basically looks like nothing special but once dropped into the bath begins its fizzy demise into colorful warm colors of orange, yellows, and pinks.

The scent is a sultry/musky one and these are always my favorite. Online it says that some of its main ingredients are black pepper and myrrh, and the combination of the scent with the colors really mingle well together and come together to make up a wonderful bath time experience (:

3. Scrubee

I didn’t know much about this product when I picked it up other than that it had to of been good if it was once a limited edition release, and now brought back as a full-time product.

It’s the cutest little body butter in the shape and colors of an actual bumble bee!

It is made with things like ground almonds, shea butter, and honey which all together exfoliate and moisturize the skin. Not to mention it’s a delicious smell as well!

4. Tooth Fairy

I was intrigued by this one. Years ago even, Lush released ‘toothy tabs’ and I had bought a pack to see the difference between drug store toothpaste versus the more ‘natural’ alternative. They were chewable toothpaste and interesting in comparison to say the least, but I honestly enjoyed them and wanted to see if I would like Lush’s newer take on toothpaste.. the ‘tooth powders’.

So of course when I saw the pink lid and the name of this one, it was a total impulse buy up at the register. But definitely not one I regret!

I will say that dipping your toothbrush into a powder takes some getting used to, and so does the initial taste; however, when you’re done, you’re left with fresh strawberry breath and a little extra fun added to your monotonous routine!

The only downside that I am finding with this is that now that I have gone through most of the powder (it doesn’t last as long as normal toothpaste), it is getting clumpy and NOT in a good way. But none-the-less, I would buy this again or even try a different flavor (:

Tooth Fairy

5. R&B

This is part two to the first product on this list. I also bought this with the intentions of having grey hair in mind. I thought it would be great as a leave-in conditioner and would provide the ends of my hair a lot of extra moisture when needed.

As mentioned before, although my hair isn’t grey, it is bleached at the ends and this does do a good job with added a little extra something. It’s made with avocado butter, and a whole bunch of different oils so it’s great for those that are looking for a treatment for dry locks. AND, the smell is honestly amazing. It lasts a LONG time in the hair and has a spice-y/musky scent (in my opinion), and is made with jasmine an orange fragrances.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone and it might even have made its way into my ‘Lush Holy Grails’!

6. Monsters’ Ball

Now you can’t even tell me this isn’t (again) one of the cutest things you’ve ever seen.. like, seriously.

It’s another bath bomb, and one of their Halloween exclusives (so you better order quick if you want this guy!).

Once dropped in the bath, it creates purple and pink swirls and smells of lime/citrus. It’s so fun and can get basically anyone in the mood for Halloween (or a Monster’s Inc. movie night)!

Monsters’ Ball

7. Rocket Science

When I saw this in the store, I about fell over. Yes, ANOTHER bath bomb, but I’m an addict, what else can I say?

Once upon a time, they had a planet bath bomb (I think called Space Girl) and it was my most favorite bath bomb of all time. It smelled delicious, made your water a murky, but beautiful, violet, and contained glitter. It’s literally my dream come true. But Lush discontinued it at least a year ago, so whenever they release something that is space-themed, I just have to try it.. I mean, I like to think I’m the Space Queen after all.

But what is so fun about this one is that the flames in the back of the rocket ship are actually pressed differently than the rest of the bath bomb so when you place it into the water, it gets propelled forward like it is flying around! I mean, how cool and adorable is that?!

This one also has a citrus-y but musky scent and leaves your water nice and blue with a hint of glitter as well. In my book, it’s a redemption from the Great Space Girl Depression (:

Rocket Science

If you liked this, I’m sure there will be another one in the near future because when they bring out all of the holiday goodies.. I just can’t help myself.

What are your favorite Lush products? Are you all excited to have Lord of Misrule back? Because I am! And if you’ve never been to a Lush before, would you want to check it out? (:

I hope you enjoyed, but..

Until next time..

My Top 5 Fall Lippies

My Top 5 Fall Lippies

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today on the blog is a ‘Fall-inspired’ post!

Let me just put it out there, I looooove Fall! I like when the leaves change colors, the sweaters come out, and the air gets crisp. And I love all of the fall activities too, I mean, count me in for pumpkin picking any day of the week!

So of course I thought maybe I could combine my excitement for the new season with another one of my favorite things (no matter WHAT the season).. Lipstick! I’m especially crazy about Fall shades, the darker colors have always been my favorite and although I’m pretty pale, I think they make for a really vampy look that is so perfect for this time of the year!

And so I combined a list of my top lip colors for the Fall! Some of them stand alone and some are best in a little lip liner, lipstick combo! I hope you enjoy!

1. Nars Audacious Lipstick in Ingrid

Up first is an OG favorite. I’m telling you, I’ve been obsessed with this color for at least the past four years. It’s the most perfect vampy, purple-y/red shade and it’s one of the few ‘normal’ lipsticks I’ll ever wear (that means NOT a matte, liquid lip).

It’s so smooth and creamy and honestly just really easy to apply, which for me is a super plus because without a lip liner, I’m usually helpless! It’s also a color that really works for a lot of skin tones, which I think is really important! Although it definitely IS on the pricey side, I think you get a lot of bang for your buck and mine has lasted me for quite some time so overall, I really think it is worth it to have this in your collection if you are a lipstick addict like me!

2. Glossier Generation G in Jam and Mac Cosmestics’ Lip Pencil in Burgundy

Ugh, this combo is literally to DIE for if you are looking for the most natural but still really pigmented berry lip. I actually stole this combo from 50 Shades Darker, Anastasia wore it a LOT in the movie and I just remember while watching thinking ‘I have to have it’!

This combo together starts out very comfortable (and is definitely long-lasting) but once the glossier lippie dries down, it is a very matte look. It’s still comfortable (and the look is amazing), but it might be something to consider if you find you aren’t really a ‘matte-lover’ like myself.

Of course you could always just keep applying ‘Jam’ and that would keep your lips moisturized as well, but sometimes remembering to do that is a little bit of a hassle. Either way, these two have been such a game-changer for me, and even in the summer I found myself always reaching for these two as a go-to. Just so amazing.

3. Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Family Jewels

Okay, so you guys might want to run to get your hands on this one as it is actually part of his Summer collection (so I don’t know how much longer it will be available), but this is the most wonderful cool toned, dusty brown.

I also looooove the formula of Jeffree’s liquid lips, so this stays put and is SUPER light-weight.. like maybe even one of the most light-weight liquid lips I own.. and that’s pretty many.

It’s so pigmented, and you can pretty much completely cover your lips in one dunk from the product, which I think is amazing. Plus, the applicator that he uses is so unique and easy that you won’t even need to worry about lining your lips!

I think this is a great color for the fall months, and although it’s a brown, it’s super neutral and wearable incase ‘in-your-face’ sort of colors just aren’t your thing! It’s a show-stopper for sure and I would DEFINITELY recommend!

Family Jewels

4. Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Gorg

I had to, I just love the Kardashians so stinking much. AND Kylie has pretty bomb lipstick shades as well as an amazing formula (yeah, it’s a little dry but name me a liquid lip that stays longer.. I’ll wait)!

So when thinking about what shade was my favorite for fall (there are so many to pick from), Gorg immediately popped into my mind. It is a super-pigmented, NOT streaky, deep red. I actually think the website describes it as a wine color and they’re not wrong!

Normally with this one I will line my lips with another red liner from her line, maybe Boujee or even Vixen (since this is a separate from the OG KoKo Collection), and this just glides on and stays all stinking day long perfectly.

I’ve searched years for the perfect dark red, and this is truly a keeper! 10/10 WOULD recommend (:

5. ColourPop Lippie Stix and Lippie Pencil in Grunge

Ugh, this one is too good to be true as well! It is one of the very first browns that I was ever adventurous enough to own and it’s a great one to start off with! It’s a red-toned brown that truly is the epitome of it’s name.. Grunge.

It is full-coverage and dries down matte although it comes in a lipstick tube. It is so fun to pair with ripped jeans and a throwback flannel top or even a band tee and a leather jacket. It’s just one of those colors that really completes a look! AND it’s always a bonus when a brand makes an identical lip liner (which obviously ColourPop is super amazing at)!

Really it is a shade unlike any other in my collection and one I am so happy to have, especially in those Fall months! Plus at ColourPop prices (serious FIVE dollars) how the heck could you pass it up! (:

**Disclaimer** I totally know that this shade looks superrrrr similar to Jeffree’s mentioned above (and in a way they COULD be dupes for one another); however, this color is a lot more red on the lips than Family Jewels (which is more brown). Just wanted to throw that out there. And although they are similar to me, I think that they are still worthwhile to both have as formulas are totally different and they’re pretty awesome, staple shades for Fall!

Grunge Lippie Stix

Grunge Lippie Pencil

And that concludes my Top 5 Fall Lippies post! Lipstick is something that brings so much happiness into my life, and makes me feel really empowered every time I wear it (the bolder the shade, the better)! I hope you guys got to see some shades you didn’t already know about and are inspired to rock these deep, dark, and brown colors all Fall long (not to mention the reds can totally transition right into Winter)! But..

Until next time,

September Sephora Play

September Sephora Play

Happy Thursday Everyone!

This week we’re bringing an extra post to the blog to share with you all this month’s Sephora Play (I just can’t skip them!)

This month’s theme was ‘Fall into Beauty’ and it came with a pinkish/purple bag containing all of our samples! I think the packaging is super cute and I love the black, white, and red mixed with all of the polka dots (very 101 dalmations, am I right? But also, super trendy)!

So without further ado, let’s jump right on in to all of the September goodies!

1. Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel

It’s the fisrt product, and I’m already super pumped. It came in the color ‘Deep’ and threw me right back to my high school days. If I’m thinking correctly, I used to have the OG packaging for this product and it used to be my holy grail.

Now keep in mind, I’m not really a girl that is into in-your-face type of makeup, so this is the perfect brow product for me. It’s enough to color and shape them without going overboard. The fibers look really natural and the finished look is a stunner for literally anyone!

2. Sephora Collection Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof

This product is a staple, but also a little underwhelming for me. Like I just mentioned, I don’t wear a lot of makeup, least of all eyeliner. I personally think it just makes my eyes look really dark and small and honestly, at the end of the day it just darkens my under eye circles even more than they already are (NOT a good thing). So this is a product that will swiftly be passed on to my mom who will most likely be able to find a better use for it than I will.

I will say thought that it is a perfect travel size eye pencil, and in a way could also be perfect for people like me who don’t wear eye liner often as a little back up incase the urge ever hits to swipe some on!

3. Algenist POWER Recharging Night Pressed Serum

So this one I was also pretty excited for because ya girl loves her skincare, and I’m always down to try something new (especially since being back to college has basically ruined my skin and resulted in major breakouts.. ugh)!

From my understanding, it’s a concentrated serum that melts from more of a solid consistency into the skin to rejuvenate skin and even it out. It’s made with Alguronic Acid, a chemical found in algae that protects and regenerates the skin. So the fact that it has a compound from algae is awesome because in my experience with skincare, algae is detoxifying and normally works well with my skin type, so this was a total hit for me! Plus you just apply it at night and let it do its magic!

4. Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick

This was another hit for me! The shade I got was ‘Amulet’ and it is the most perfect fall shade. It’s a brown, magenta, burgundy all mushed into one with a hint of shimmer as well, which I find unique considering most of my matte lippies are totally flat.

I am increasingly intrigued though by this product. It’s advertised as a waterproof, pigmented, liquid lipstick with a satin-matte finish. To me, that screams ‘In a few hours you’ll need to reapply’, but I’m excited to give it a try and see just how long lasting this formula really is. Plus, I’ve never tried any lip products from Urban Decay before so I’m happy to hopefully expand my horizons past Kylie Cosmetics.

5. Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb

I think my mouth hit the floor when I pulled this out of the bag. I was So. Excited. If you all don’t know already, Belif has my all time favorite cleanser in the whole entire world, and in general, just really awesome skincare products, so this was a dream come true. I’ve always heard about this moisturizer and I am so pumped to try it for myself. Especially because I got a product a few months ago from this brand that made itself a favorite in my skincare routine!

It is an oil-free gel moisturizer that quenches skin and delivers a cooling effect. It is made with antioxidant-rich botanic extracts from an herb, Lady’s Mantle, that is known for hydrating powers and a lightweight feel.

6. IGK Hot Girls Shampoo and Conditioner

This month, there was no perfume freebie! Honestly, I love that Sephora is bringing a new freebie to the box, but I also did really like getting the perfume sample, because I’m kind of a perfume snob, and it’s opened my eyes to a few other scents.

But of course I can’t wait to give this a try, especially since the ends of my hair could always use some extra moisture, which is exactly what these samples claim to help! Some of the ingredients include shea butter, olive oil, and litchi extract, all of which are meant to lock in mostuire and protect the hair from pollutants.

IGK Shampoo

IGK Conditioner

So all in all, this box was just another success for me! I think it came with great products that I will mostly use and that also fit right into the fall season (of which, I am SO excited for)! The only thing that was a real miss for me this month was actually the bag. It’s cute and different, but I’m not a huge fan of silk so that’s going to be shuffled off to a friend who will be able to give it a loving home! Otherwise, like I said, these products are great and I can’t wait to see how the Sephora Play box continues to evolve! (:

Hope you all enjoyed this short unboxing and my initial reactions, but..

Until next time,
